Pet Insurance.
Unfortunately, accidents and illnesses don't always happen at convenient times. An unexpected trip to the vet can be worrying enough without the added pressure of figuring out how to manage the cost of treatment.
Pet insurance can help take some of that financial pressure off, allowing you to focus on what matters most: helping your pet feel better. While it may not be something you think about every day, having a plan in place before you need it can make a real difference when the unexpected happens!
FAQs.

Pet insurance helps cover eligible veterinary expenses, depending on the policy you choose. There are a variety of policies available, offering different levels of coverage to suit individual pets and household budgets.
Depending on the policy, cover may include veterinary treatment for accidental injuries, illnesses, diagnostic testing, surgery, hospitalisation and certain ongoing health conditions. Some policies also offer additional benefits, such as dental illness treatment or behavioural care.
Each policy has its own terms, exclusions, reimbursement limits and conditions, so it is important to understand what is and is not covered before making a decision.

Pet insurance can help cover eligible veterinary expenses in the event of an unexpected illness or injury, depending on your policy. This may provide financial support for significant or unexpected costs, even before you have had time to build up personal savings.
There is no single approach that suits every pet or household. Your decision will depend on your budget, your ability to manage unexpected costs and the level of financial protection you would like.

In many cases, it is worth considering pet insurance while your pet is young and healthy. Accidents and unexpected illnesses can occur at any age, and taking out a policy early may provide broader coverage before certain health conditions develop.
Many insurers exclude pre-existing conditions, meaning illnesses or injuries that occur before your policy begins may not be covered. Some policies also have age restrictions for new enrolments, making it important to review your options as your pet gets older.

When comparing policies, consider:
Level of cover: Does the policy cover both accidents and illnesses, or only specific circumstances?
Annual and condition limits: Are there limits on how much you can claim overall or for individual conditions?
Reimbursement percentage: What proportion of eligible veterinary expenses will the insurer pay?
Excess and exclusions: Are there out-of-pocket costs, waiting periods or treatments that are not covered?
Pre-existing conditions: How does the insurer define and assess pre-existing conditions?
Ongoing care: Are chronic conditions, prescription medications, specialist consultations or repeat treatments included?
Premiums over time: How might the cost of your policy change as your pet ages?
Reading the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) carefully will help you understand the policy's benefits, limitations and exclusions before committing.
Ensure you research different insurance companies and policies, to see what is right for your circumstances. -
While we can provide information about your pet’s health, recommended treatments and expected veterinary costs, we are unable to provide financial or insurance advice, assess individual policies or recommend specific insurance providers. Decisions regarding coverage and eligibility for claims are made by your chosen insurer.
We recommend contacting insurance providers directly to discuss their policies, inclusions, exclusions and claim requirements. This will help you make an informed decision based on your pet’s needs and your family’s circumstances.
-
Coverage depends on your individual policy and your insurer's assessment of the claim. While we can explain your pet's recommended treatment and provide relevant veterinary documentation, we cannot guarantee that a particular treatment or procedure will be covered.
We recommend contacting your insurer and requesting a pre-approval before proceeding with planned treatment if you are unsure about your eligibility for a claim.

If your insurance company is part of GapOnly, we can help you process your claim.
How It Works:On-the-spot processing: Following your consultation, we can process your claim on-the-spot while you wait around 5-10 minutes.
Pay only the gap: Once the claim is reviewed and approved, your insurer pays the covered portion directly to us (the vet), and you only pay the remaining "gap". This amount is essentially any un-covered costs, and your policy excess.
If your insurance provider does not participate in GapOnly, payment will be required in full at the time of your visit. You can then submit a claim directly to your insurer through their online claims portal.
We will provide you with a copy of your paid invoice, and clinical records can be sent directly to your insurer upon request to support your claim.
Please note that claim assessment and reimbursement are managed by your insurance provider and are subject to your policy's terms and conditions.
